The roots of the Town of Trophy Club dates back to 1847 when Charles and Matilda Medlin, along with 20 families from Missouri, settled along Denton Creek. Floods drove them to higher ground to the area around what is now the Town of Trophy Club. Much of the early history of the area is reflected in the inscriptions on the tombstones in Medlin Cemetery. The cemetery was designated a Texas historical landmark in 1977. As legend has it, the site

was chosen for the cemetery when Mittie Ann Medlin died on April 15, 1850 at the age of 21 and wanted to be buried on the hill with the beautiful view.

Before incorporation as a Town in 1985, a Houston developer approached the Council of the Town of Westlake regarding the possibility of constructing a housing development around a private country club where Ben Hogan would design a golf course nestled in the rolling and picturesque countryside. Trophy Club Country Club not only offers the only 18-hole course designed by Mr. Hogan, but also has another equally challenging 18 holes designed by Arthur Hills. The Country Club also offers a superior tennis program.

Today the town is known for its heavily wooded home sites and wide streets that gently wind around the town. There are five gated communities among the over 2,500 home sites. Over the next five years the Highlands of Trophy Club Planned Development will add another 1,400 homes with the Hillwood Residential Development sub division of Turnberry opening in mid 2008.

The Town offers a wide variety of outdoor recreational and sporting activities in and around Trophy Club for every member of your family. You have a choice of individual and family activities to choose from on a year 'round basis. Trophy Club operates 908 acres of dedicated park land which includes: Beck Park; Harmony Park; Independence Park and Trophy Club Park at Lake Grapevine. In addition to these parks, the Town also operates two Community Swimming Pools.

The Town offers convenient shopping and dining areas at two of the main entrances with an additional commercial site planned at Trophy Wood Drive. There are two elementary schools, one middle school and Byron Nelson High is currently under development and expected to open in the Fall of 2009. Our citizens enjoy the convenience of local churches: Church at Trophy Lakes; Lake Cities Church of Christ and Fellowship United Methodist Church.

The residents of the Town recognize Trophy Club as “A Great Place to Call Home”.
